Up to $3 per square foot on up to 5,000 square feet — a maximum of $15,000 — under the Summer Smart Enhanced Rebate. The catch is the window: this rate applies to projects between July 1 and October 31, 2026. After that it is expected to fall back toward the $2 SoCal Water$mart regional base.
The enhanced rate ends. Anaheim delivers this rebate through Metropolitan Water District's SoCal Water$mart program, whose standing regional base is $2 per square foot, so a 1,000 sq ft project worth $3,000 during the window would be worth roughly $2,000 after it. Because you must reserve funds before removing any turf, the reservation is what needs to happen before the deadline.
Yes. Anaheim's TreePower program offers 4 free trees from more than 40 species — select 'Trees for Turf Removal' when you apply. It is a separate application from the turf rebate, not a bonus added to your per-square-foot payment, so you need to submit both.
No. Anaheim's program is explicitly about planting native, drought-tolerant plants rather than installing pavers or synthetic turf, which the city notes worsen heat islanding. The rebate pays for living landscape.
