$2 per square foot, the Metropolitan Water District regional rate that PWP delivers through SoCal Water$mart. That rate applies equally to single-family, small multi-family, commercial, HOA, and large multi-family customers. Residential projects cap at 5,000 sq ft ($10,000) and commercial at 50,000 sq ft. You can also earn $100 per tree for up to five trees.
No. Several third-party sites claim Pasadena tops the rebate up by $1–$2 per square foot, and one report says commercial customers can receive $4 per square foot. PWP's own program page lists $2 per square foot for every customer class with no local adder. The tree bonus, worth up to $500, is the real extra.
250 square feet — or, if your entire yard is smaller than 250 sq ft, all of the turf in it. Note that the existing area has to be living turf: dead grass, dying grass, and bare dirt will not qualify at inspection.
No. PWP prohibits synthetic turf and also bars plants that merely appear to be turf. This is stricter than Las Vegas, where SNWA accepts permeable artificial turf as a mulch substitute alongside the required living plants.
Capturing rainfall is a hard requirement of the regional program, not an optional upgrade. Your converted area has to hold rain on site through infiltration or storage, using a rain garden, rain barrel, cistern, berm, swale, or appropriate grading. Projects without one fail inspection.
