The verified rate is $1 per square foot with a $3,000 maximum for existing homes converting to xeriscape. Note: some sources indicate the rate may have increased to $1.50/sq ft effective January 2026 — confirm the current rate at glendaleaz.gov before applying.

At minimum, drought-tolerant plants from the approved low-water-use list. Gravel, decomposed granite, and rock can fill the remaining area, but living plants are required — hardscape alone does not qualify.
